Renegades Fall to Karma

The Alabama Renegades lost in a hard-fought game Saturday night, 26-27, to the Kentucky Karma in Louisville, Kentucky.
Kentucky, undefeated thus far, came out hot in the first quarter scoring 14 unanswered points. But the Renegade offense finally started moving
the ball and scored 20 points in the second quarter. Kentucky was up by one at the half. Both defenses played strong in the third and neither
team was able to put points on the board. Kentucky scored early in the fourth quarter to go up by seven, their extra point attempt was no good.
Alabama scored late in the fourth, but the two point conversion failed. In the end, the Kentucky offense was able to run the clock out to secure the one point victory.
The Renegade defense played a very sound game. Defensive lineman Dana Sanders and defensive back Star Haun each had six solo tackles and one assist.
Defensive back Sonya Massey had five solo tackles and two assists. Four Alabama players made six total tackles. They were linebacker Stephanie Palmer,
linebacker Hayley Howard, linebacker Bird Gholston, and defensive end Tiffany Colbert.
The Renegade offense had success in throwing and running the ball. The offense accumulated 93 yards passing and 220 yards running. Quarterback Nancy
Byrd completed 17 of 24 passing for all 93 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Tight end Sandra Kerby led the team in receptions with
six catches for 51 yards and one touchdown. Receiver Sherry Pruett and running back Dionne Eatman each had four catches for 16 and 13 yards respectively.
Running back Marty Alber led the Renegade rushing attack running nine times for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Eatman had 15 rushes for 75 yards.
The Alabama Renegades return home this weekend to play the Chattanooga Locomotion. The Renegades lost to Chattanooga in the first game of the season and
are looking to avenge the loss. The game will start at 7:00 pm on May 24 at Alabama A&M Stadium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for kids. Children 12 and under are free.
The Alabama Renegades are part of the National Women's Football Association (NWFA). There will be eight games played in the 2008 regular season.
The team will travel to Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY, Chattanooga, TN, and Pensacola, FL. The NWFA is the largest league in the world for women's full
